Dancing With the Stars: Week 2

It's week 2. Dim the lights, let’s go! Wait... That's American Idol.

Live its Dancing with the Stars Recap!
  • Sugar Ray and Anna- Was the black and white at the very beginning of their dance really necessary? NO NO NO! It's pointless and stupid. He should have done a lot better this week. He should make it to next week, no doubt in my mind. Very glad that Anna has no problem saying something to the judges. Len obviously forgot to eat before the show which explains his bad mood. I mean how did it lack dance quality? He tried. Give him a break!
  • Kendra and Louis- That music was downright awful for this dance. I understand that they are trying to bring in younger music to bring in a younger audience. But if that is the case bring in new singers! The one's they have now aren't helping! Now, Louis normally does beyond amazing choreography but this was not his best and I have a feeling he will be holding back with Kendra. Don't ask me why but I just have that feeling. Weird, I know. Everything the judges said about her dancing is true and needs a lot more work.
  • Chelsea and Mark- OUCH! That's all I can say. Mark can say all he wants about it being a real jive but I feel otherwise. The makeup on Mark was downright distracting! Combine that with his over the top facial expressions and I can barely look at him. Now the choreography was definitely out there but not in a good way. I totally get how last season he was really not able to be as creative given his dance partner. But this was more of a freestyle than it was a Jive. Their feet and hands bothered me. She is too good of a dancer and too pretty to be really doing something like this. On the bright side... I liked the stage setup and music for once minus their costumes. Shocker!
  • Chris and Cheryl- They were actually good! They looked good together and he was charming. Never in a million years would you think I was talking about a wrestler but I am. Cheryl knows what she is doing! Plus you really can't go wrong with their song either.
  • Petra and Dmitry- At first thought I thought she did OK, like last week. But I watched again and she did better than OK. She deserved a 7 in there somewhere. Now I have no idea how she will do with where the votes are concerned but I guess we will have to see.
  • Kirstie and Maks- "Winning" I have never really honestly been a HUGE Maks fan mostly due to his cockiness but they did right when they paired them together. I love the way the act and how suddenly he is not that obnoxious this season. They are fun to watch and that not so planned kiss at the end was priceless. She did lose her steps and slow down as the dance went on but she did her best, had fun and tried! How do you like that George Lopez? Come on! How absurd was that comment he made?!?! I know that people are moving on but I still don't understand how he can say that when he is not the one dancing. His comments about her dancing last week were HORRIBLE.
  • Mike and Lacey- Way better than last week that is for sure. Not going to lie, I think he will be the first to go. I really don't know who is really is and he is not that good. Who is with me?
  • Romeo and Chelsie- First off, who else wants to go and buy her costume from this week. So cute! I don't know if he is the one to watch but I will agree that he did a great job. He has potential to go far especially with the girl votes. But can we talk about the cheesy tacky attempt at prom decorations on a TV show? I am so over the producers putting in the horrible decorations for almost every dance.
  • Wendy and Tony- What a horrible match up? I am sorry but they are not a good pair at all. Remember when Nicey was on? They had her with Louis and they matched really well together he was able to bring out her personality in almost all the dances and they did really well. Tony has yet to do that and I honestly feel like that is why she hasn't done well. They needed to put her with Louis and Kendra with someone else. Both Kendra and Wendy really don't have chemistry with their partners'. Just Sayin'.
  • Ralph and Karina- Sorry Judges but you are wrong! Ralph had the Best Jive of the Night. He did the Jive like it is suppose to be. You need to get your eyes checked.
  • Hines and Kym- Is it too much to ask to just rub his head for good luck? It was a great dance and managed to be light on the dance floor. Another football player to keep your eyes on. Darn it!

Cranky "fuddy-duddy" Len gave pretty much all the couples lower scores than they deserved except for Romeo. I don't know what his problem was last night but he needs to figure it out soon or it will be a LONG season.

I guess we will see who goes home tonight. My money is still on Mike and Lacey. Who do you think will go home tonight?

Dancing with the Stars

I have to say that when they announced the cast about a month ago I was pleasantly surprised. NO one immediately screamed "dance experience." Say what you want to say about it being a boring group of individuals but I beg to differ. Because let's face it nothing can be simple when you have people like Kirstie Alley, Kendra Wilkinson or Wendy "How you doin" Williams.

Premiere night of Dancing with the Stars revealed nothing new or special. I am not going to hold back but I was very surprised that they at least didn't have a new stage set up. I fell in love with the acoustic stage last season when they were "dancing in the round" so to speak. I thought it was so cool to see the audience all around them. I mean let's face it. Who wouldn't want to see the Male Pro's at a 360 angle? Minus Derek (still sad about that). Let's also talk about the useless props and lighting that the producers continue to use. It doesn't work. Sunflowers during Chelsie, weird lights for almost all of them and the sequin curtain to go in front of the band for Kirstie. I guess it is fair to say they haven't signed up for overproducers anonymous.

The first round of performance’s are always hard to judge because we have nothing to go off of previously. But I always have no problem.
  • Chelsea and Mark- I agree with a lot of what the judges have to say about her performance. Now I really had a hard time watching her when I have to see Mark every 2 seconds trying to make it the Mark show. I CAN'T take anymore of those stupid facial expressions. Enough already. He was so good his first season with Sabrina and I just want that Mark back that everyone fell in love with.
  • Wendy and Tony- Where was Wendy and why did she leave her attitude at the door? This girl was marching on the floor and barely picked up her feet. She looked terrified. I just hope she got a wakeup call and will bring Mrs. Diva to the floor next week.
  • Hines and Kym- Kym must have been to the zoo before she decided on the design of her costume. She was a Lion in crushed velvet (eww) with fringe coming out of her hip. That costume was beyond horrible and needs to be shredded immediately but I guess you could save it for Halloween.
  • Petra and Dmitry- Not much really to say. They did ok for first week. So um ya...
  • Romeo and Chelsie- He did a lot better than his dad did. That's for sure.
  • Sugar Ray and Anna- First off LOVED her costume. I had big hopes for him but I was let down when I saw him in hold. Those shoulders...Oh boy! I watched his performance again and I wonder how that song is a foxtrot. I may not know a lot about ballroom but I am a DWTS junkie and I know they have used it as a Cha cha in previous seasons.
  • Kendra and Louis- I was so distracted by her stupid booty pop that it took away from the dance. She was told to do a body roll and she does one like she would in the club with cha cha not in there at all. All that said I can't wait to see her in ballroom hold.
  • Ralph and Karina- I feel in love with the Karate kid last night. So charming and someone you can't help but love. I haven't seen Karina so happy with a partner in a long time. Now it could be after glow from her personal engagement but it's nice to see her in a good place and not be stuck with "the situation." Can we talk about how he looks the exact same? I need his number when I am 40. That's for sure
  • Chris and Cheryl- Music and their costumes bothered me. I know it shouldn't but if the music doesn't flow with the dance it really takes away the meaning of the dance.
  • Mike and Lacey- ....HUH...
  • Kirstie and Maks- HOLY COW!!!!! The best was saved for last. I have never been so surprised in my life. I have loved her ever sense "It Takes Two" (Don't judge) and I thought she would make it through a couple of rounds but man she has the potential to be in the finals. Can't go wrong with Forget You as your song. Just sayin.

Till next week.
Happy Dancing!
