Dancing with the Stars: Classical Style

I think we can honestly say that we may have figured out what makes Len in a good mood! Classical music. All night long he was in a good mood and on performances where I thought he would rip them apart; he was surprisingly OK with it. Weird!
Now normally, I can’t stand the idea of theme nights but tonight was an exception. We have already had to go through the tragedy of themes such as TV, Rock and Roll, Movie, and the one I didn’t mind, Acoustic. And I guess we could add in classical under the, I don’t mind category. I mean let’s get realistic here. We didn’t have to listen to the horrible singing, it was quite enjoyable and dare I say relaxing to watch. I don’t know about you but I loved the theme by the end of the show. Cue the music and let’s go!
  • Romeo and Chelsie- I guess the producers didn't get the memo that fire and classical music have never mixed. The ring of fire and random fire bursts were TACKY!!!! I get the idea but when you are doing everything to classical music it DOES NOT WORK! Plain and simple.
  • Kendra and Louie- Way to go Kendra for ruining one of my favorite classical songs! I don’t know if I will ever be able to get your dance or “mafia” costume out of my head.
  • Sugar Ray and Anna- I honestly don’t know what to say but good try Sugar Ray Fairy!
  • Petra and Dmitry- Campbell’s soup anyone?!?! You know I had to go there. She was so good last week and I hate to say this week was a huge let down. Her shoulders and posture were off.  She did OK but it was not my favorite. By the way what the heck was up with Bruno’s comments or shall I say strip tease??? Awkward!
  • Ralph and Karina- First Goosebumps of the season!!!!!! Stunning and just plain breathtaking! Thank you Bruno for giving it a well deserved 9! No way possible they deserved a lower score than Chelsea and Mark.
  • Hines and Kym- The fire and flashing lights have got to go. Unless you are using them for an Aerosmith concert they shouldn’t be used for classical music and ballroom dancing. He had enough fire and energy himself at the end of the dance that he didn’t need it. Producers really needed to watch the dance closely during stage blocking and dress rehearsal, to see that he didn’t need the stage effects.
  • Chelsea and Mark- I don’t know if bad is even the best word to describe their styling and costume choice. I mean they danced to the Harry Potter theme and that is what they came up with. HORRIBLE.  I get that they are trying to be young but I have seen better Viennese waltz’s on YouTube to that song. There is a way to keep it young but this was beyond distracting and just put me off in a bad way. The rolls and push up jump thing was just another move to add to the “mark show.” Showcase your partner, not yourself!!!
  • Chris and Cheryl- For once in my life, I agree with Len! He did OK. He got certain parts right in the beginning when the music was soft. But once it got bigger he stayed the same. I will give him credit because that was a HARD piece of music to dance to.
  • Kirstie and Maks- #1: Take off that necklace! It takes away from your costume. #2: The singing was incredible!  #3: Did anyone else see her shoe come off? I missed it horribly. #4: Still not her best dance! Give her a Latin number and the Forget You Kirstie will be back!!!!
No way possible that Mark and Chelsea deserved the highest score of the night! I am sorry but that is going to bother me like Pia’s elimination from American Idol last week. That was beyond horrible and in my eyes deserved 6’s or better yet 5’s!
Who will get the ax tomorrow night? I guess we will have to wait and see.
