Dancing with the Stars

I have to say that when they announced the cast about a month ago I was pleasantly surprised. NO one immediately screamed "dance experience." Say what you want to say about it being a boring group of individuals but I beg to differ. Because let's face it nothing can be simple when you have people like Kirstie Alley, Kendra Wilkinson or Wendy "How you doin" Williams.

Premiere night of Dancing with the Stars revealed nothing new or special. I am not going to hold back but I was very surprised that they at least didn't have a new stage set up. I fell in love with the acoustic stage last season when they were "dancing in the round" so to speak. I thought it was so cool to see the audience all around them. I mean let's face it. Who wouldn't want to see the Male Pro's at a 360 angle? Minus Derek (still sad about that). Let's also talk about the useless props and lighting that the producers continue to use. It doesn't work. Sunflowers during Chelsie, weird lights for almost all of them and the sequin curtain to go in front of the band for Kirstie. I guess it is fair to say they haven't signed up for overproducers anonymous.

The first round of performance’s are always hard to judge because we have nothing to go off of previously. But I always have no problem.
  • Chelsea and Mark- I agree with a lot of what the judges have to say about her performance. Now I really had a hard time watching her when I have to see Mark every 2 seconds trying to make it the Mark show. I CAN'T take anymore of those stupid facial expressions. Enough already. He was so good his first season with Sabrina and I just want that Mark back that everyone fell in love with.
  • Wendy and Tony- Where was Wendy and why did she leave her attitude at the door? This girl was marching on the floor and barely picked up her feet. She looked terrified. I just hope she got a wakeup call and will bring Mrs. Diva to the floor next week.
  • Hines and Kym- Kym must have been to the zoo before she decided on the design of her costume. She was a Lion in crushed velvet (eww) with fringe coming out of her hip. That costume was beyond horrible and needs to be shredded immediately but I guess you could save it for Halloween.
  • Petra and Dmitry- Not much really to say. They did ok for first week. So um ya...
  • Romeo and Chelsie- He did a lot better than his dad did. That's for sure.
  • Sugar Ray and Anna- First off LOVED her costume. I had big hopes for him but I was let down when I saw him in hold. Those shoulders...Oh boy! I watched his performance again and I wonder how that song is a foxtrot. I may not know a lot about ballroom but I am a DWTS junkie and I know they have used it as a Cha cha in previous seasons.
  • Kendra and Louis- I was so distracted by her stupid booty pop that it took away from the dance. She was told to do a body roll and she does one like she would in the club with cha cha not in there at all. All that said I can't wait to see her in ballroom hold.
  • Ralph and Karina- I feel in love with the Karate kid last night. So charming and someone you can't help but love. I haven't seen Karina so happy with a partner in a long time. Now it could be after glow from her personal engagement but it's nice to see her in a good place and not be stuck with "the situation." Can we talk about how he looks the exact same? I need his number when I am 40. That's for sure
  • Chris and Cheryl- Music and their costumes bothered me. I know it shouldn't but if the music doesn't flow with the dance it really takes away the meaning of the dance.
  • Mike and Lacey- ....HUH...
  • Kirstie and Maks- HOLY COW!!!!! The best was saved for last. I have never been so surprised in my life. I have loved her ever sense "It Takes Two" (Don't judge) and I thought she would make it through a couple of rounds but man she has the potential to be in the finals. Can't go wrong with Forget You as your song. Just sayin.

Till next week.
Happy Dancing!
